'Angel' vomit-draft.

When I'm writing lyrics I like to make a pile of ideas without worrying too hard about rhythm or structure, and then see what sticks. It's almost like a palette that I can come back to and pull from when it's time to actually construct a pattern that can fit in the shape of a song.

Why not draft in public? What do you lose?
I've not really participated in the internet like this for twenty years. Might as well make a new mistake.

angel (draft)

finally got my pictures developed from the fall and there you are on the rug between my legs with your eyes closed

your eyes were always closed

second to last day of may from the fall four months since the sever dead winter dead story but you still look like an angel

with your eyes closed

i could look at him forever still makes an arrow shoot down my centre like the funhouse mirror of the spice that shot up when we kissed

with your eyes always closed

you've faded now you've faded like the edges of the picture dark curls haloing

and your pants strewn across the floor and your red-brown-blue patterned rug our ocean bed on that one last day we had respite from your mind

you wanted to find god somewhere else but we were god together arrows shooting up the centre piercing our hearts until you clouded yours with cotton

you taught me there's more i need than transcendent touch though if you could have let that be it it would have been enough

but when you subscribe to a rulebook you contort me and because i'm fluid and i take the shape of any vessel it's too easy for me

to fall in line

i'd notice faster now, because of you, because of you

how did you capture my imagination so thoroughly i don’t regret you but i’m glad you’re passing

fading like the edges of the picture

i only dream for you that someday you'll be real, a real angel, with your stuffing coming out and your eyes open
